I Tried to Interact with AI in English

Hmm… is this article categorized as “tech”? It’s just about my experiences and impressions…

By the way, I have been frustrated and irritated and annoyed by AI for hundreds of thousands of years. By its exaggerated compliments, endless and needless suggestions, word choice, tone, and the attitude that never admits its mistakes… I am sure that you have the same experience, don’t you?

I feel disgusting and nasty and stressed when interacting with AI, so I cannot help cursing at it. Even though I completely understand that cursing is a damn waste of time and effort and tokens. But I cannot stop that because AI is too annoying. Every time it suggests needless and irrelevant things, I feel my blood rush to my head. I believe that you can really relate to me. Can’t you? Can’t you?

And one day, I realized. Realized that these feelings must be caused by the fact that I interact with AI in Japanese!

I was excited about this idea. In Japanese, I can immediately interpret AI’s disgusting responses, unfortunately. So I cannot stop counterarguing it. I know a lot of Japanese curse words, so I can naturally curse at AI. But what if it is all in English? I cannot immediately understand AI’s responses, unless I try to read them carefully and intentionally. I must not have enough vocabulary for cursing at AI. Wow! That is a solution! Revolution! The idea must definitely protect my mental health!

So I started to use only English when interacting with AI. Did it change my world?

No. In fact, it was not at all a solution or a revolution. I could still feel AI’s sickening tone and needless suggestions, EVEN in English. I could not stop wasting time and effort and tokens to say sarcastic things about AI’s worthless responses, making the best of my poor vocabulary. Who knows that AI is irritating even in a foreign language! AI literally crosses the language barrier!

However, there are always trade-offs. Interacting with AI in English did not resolve the problem, but I got the most important advantage. That protects my mental health in another way, as well as my dignity and reputation. What is it? No one can realize that I am cursing at AI when they accidentally see my screen! XD
